History of World Team USA

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at World Team USA is taught by a team of top notch instructors from the Gracie Barra Academy in Brazil. Lead by Jerry Filipe de Oliveira, a 1st Degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr., this team's wealth of knowledge and ability to instruct is impressive.

Jerry has studied the art under Carlos since he was 14. His fluid technical style impresses anyone privileged to learn from him. Most importantly, Jerry has the rare ability to communicate the mechanics to his students in a way that allows them to actually learn. Like all Team USA instructors, Jerry is respectful of others, humble and exceptionally skilled.

Tony Lima and Anjiho Baio recently joined Team USA. First and Second degree Black Belts respectively, their skills have been quickly appreciated by Team USA's students. (BIO coming soon...)

Our BJJ class has quickly grown in just a matter of months as word of mouth has spread regarding Jerry, Tony and Anjiho's abilities. They are an integral part of World Team USA's MMA Fight Team.

BJJ classes begin with 20 minutes of warm up followed by a series of technical lessons. The drills are done in pairs with an emphasis on technique rather than strength and power. Our instructors ensure that different levels perform a variance of the same techniques according to difficulty. They also monitor their students closely to encourage progress and belt promotion. The total class time will range from 60-70 minutes.
