CCFC
- RUSH JULY 2009
Congratulations
to Ky Hollenbeck and Michael Mananquil for their stellar performances
at CCFC RUSH this past weekend. Both were much anticipated fights
as Ky was set to challenge CCFC World Champion Jeremiah Metcalfe
and Michael to make his long awaited MMA debut.
In his usual fashion Michael began the fight with incomparable
speed and explosive action. After landing a devastating elbow that
rocked his opponent in the first few seconds, Michael followed it
with a knock down that allowed him to finish on the ground.
Ky's fight against Jeremiah was his toughest challenge to date.
While he had previously fought MMA veterans, Jeremiah was an experienced
veteran with World titles in three sanctioning bodies. Ky promised
to bring a tough fight however and indeed he did. With Todd Middendorp
deeming it the best CCFC fighter ever seen, Ky and Jeremiah brought
the crowd classic nonstop MMA action for three rounds. The all out
war certainly caused enough damage on both sides. In the end however,
the judges gave the decision to the champion.
Congratulations to Kru Sam, Ky and Michael for their inspirational
accomplishments at CCFC Rush. Look for Ky and Michael to return
to the cage/ring again soon. Thank you once again to CCFC and Todd
Middendorp for their professonal quality promotion and for inviting
our team.
FIGHT
NIGHT AT THE FOX JULY 2009
Congratulations to Brandon Del Gaudillo, Kevin Arceo and Skylr
Penna on their victories at Friday Night at the Fox.
Brandon made his debut in the ring at FNF. After a few minutes
into the first round, Brandon took control and ended the fight via
TKO. Kevin accepted a rematch against John Kusaba, a fight that
was previously exciting and close at WCSC in 2008. Kevin confirmed
his dominance this time around as well when he walked away with
the majority decision and the California IKF title. Skylr faced
a tough experienced opponent in the semi-main event of the evening.
After great action in all four rounds the judges awarded him the
unanimous decision and the North American title.
Congratulations to Kru Sam, Brandon, Kevin and Skylr. Thank you
to Phantom Promotions and Brian Schwartz for a great show and inviting
our team.

WCSC THE AWAKENING MAY 2009

WCSC “The Awakening” was a much anticipated event that promised to bring back legends and manifest new champions and talent. Team USA scheduled four of its very best talents for the show.
Vishnu Gulati was honored to face the former Lumpinee fighter Coke Chunhawat at WCSC. Respecting Coke’s massive experience Vishnu trained diligently for this fight. Within seconds into the first round Vishnu found his rhythm and progressively increased his attacks by landing well timed punches, elbows and leg kicks. Unfortunately, after a warning and a point deduction for elbowing downwards and behind Vishnu’s head, the fight was ruled a DQ against Coke for yet another downward elbow onto Vishnu’s spine when the fight was against the ropes. Vishnu looks forward to finishing their face off in a rematch.
Junior Delima fought a tough fighter from Gilbert Melendez’s camp in MMA action at WCSC. Very quickly into the first round the fighters took the fight to the ground. After controlling the ground action with well timed punches, Junior took advantage of an opening to end the fight via arm bar.
Anjiho Baiao entered the ring in his MMA debut at WCSC. Fighting a protégé out of Anderson Silva’s camp, Anjiho prepared well for stand up action. However, throughout much of the fight Anjiho controlled it on the ground landing him the majority decision win.
Two of the most anticipated fights of the night did not happen at WCSC. The Bay Area looked forward to the homecoming of Christine “Blade” Toledo in her return fight at WCSC. Her opponent flew in from Florida, prepared to face Christine. Unfortunately, due to CSAC issues the fight was scratched the day before it was scheduled. WCSC’s main event touted Ky Hollenbeck against Tony Juarez out of No Limits Gym, who has previously fought Nate Diaz. Sadly by the time the main event was set the take place the CSAC shut down the show because it was after midnight.
Congratulations to Vishnu, Junior, Anjiho and Kru Sam on their accomplishments at WCSC. Team USA thanks WCSC for inviting our team and their tremendous efforts in putting on this show. We look forward to seeing Christine and Ky in action again soon.
ASIAN HERITAGE EXHIBITION MAY 2009

Thanks to the many fans who supported this effort. Much thanks to AHSC for giving us this opportunity. Most importantly, thank you to the Team USA staff and students who worked tirelessly to make the event happen.

TJ's debut fight showed him under control and technical. After a few minutes of well timed knees in the first round, TJ took his first victory via TKO.
Charla faced the tough Lynzy Marino of Fairtex, who previously fought our champ Aby Rulloda. Charla and Lynzy showed the crowd their true grit and spirit as they kept the action nonstop. In the end the judges awarded Lynzy the well deserved decision.
Kevin took on a tough opponent from AKA. Again the fighters provided four rounds of nonstop action for the pleased crowd. In a split second in the fourth round, Kevin was surprised by a well timed hook, which ended the fight via TKO.
